Dr. Jodi Pawluski is a neuroscientist, therapist, and author. She is an international expert on the Science of Mom Brain, the Neuroscience of Parenting, and Perinatal Mental Health. Her research has focused on understanding how the brain changes with motherhood and the impact that stress can have on this process. She also investigates the role of perinatal depression and its treatment on neurobehavioral outcomes in mother and offspring.
Findings from Dr. Pawluski’s research have been published in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals, including top neuroscience journals such as JAMA Neurology and Trends in Neurosciences. Her work has also appeared in The New York Times, Scientific American, CNN, The Boston Globe, Die Zeit, Elle, and Marie Claire (France), to name a few, and she has been a guest on national radio programs, such as FranceInter and BBC Radio Woman's Hour.
Dr. Pawluski is active in counseling, mentoring, training, and advocating for improvements to perinatal mental health care and research on the parental brain through involvement with organizations such as Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Trainings and Postpartum Support International. In 2020, Dr. Pawluski started a podcast called Mommy Brain Revisited, which focuses on bringing current research on the parental brain to the general public. In 2022, she authored Mommy Brain: Discover the Amazing Power of the Maternal Brain (Demeter Press/Larousse), the first book on the parental brain by a neuroscientist who researches this topic.
Dr. Pawluski completed her BSc in Biopsychology at the University of British Columbia, her MA in Psychology at the University of Toronto, a PhD in Neuroscience at the University of British Columbia, and a Habilitation Degree (HDR) in Life Sciences at the University of Rennes, where she is an affiliated researcher.
